Perhaps that’s the max level the battery can take. A good indicator would be a CCA test to see how much cold cranking amps the battery is capable of producing. Can happen to old or worn out batteries.

Flashing battery means no battery connected. The battery terminals may need a clean up.

Correct. But you can add a Bluetooth adapter to the IP-Bus cd changer port and then you can stream to it too via Aux. The sound quality of this series of head units is just something else.

how did you just begin to get bore scoring at 150k mi? Surprising that it didn't happen earlier if it was going to happen

@@cboria148 it probably was happening sooner, but it showed no symptoms.... no smoke, sounds or issues what so ever... one day it started misfiring and that was the last straw... sucks, but....had to deal with it.

@@cboria148 I most likely had some scoring for who knows how long before this final 'end of life' misfire / finale. But it never showed any symptoms... no smoke, sound or oil usage... been amazing til now. So i'm going to invest to keep it going for many more miles... having a 4.0 liter engine installed ....

So the Charge Controller is this: amzn.to/3eBzPgP I originally had one of these solar battery maintainers that I used in the car: amzn.to/2RJzU8S I recently upgraded to amzn.to/3tAmTvS Being a more sensitive and more powerful unit, it even provides charge on overcast days so the batteries are always topped up! Lastly, the lights I use are these: amzn.to/3tAn8XO They light up the inside of my shed better than my lights in my apartment. They were so good, I replicated the set-up in my garage with 2x rows of the lights and it is bright enough that I can work on my car in the evenings and night. It has been an amazingly rewarding and useful project.

Correct! There are a couple of mods that can be done to the cars with the standard exhaust to make it sound better but of course they are not switchable and fairly permanent.

@@mhoseinofi isn’t there a bypass pipe that essentially skips the resonators?

@@gregmayled There is no resonator on these systems the same as a front engine car. It's all in the mufflers. But essentially yes, from the opened up mufflers that I have seen, the pipe with the valve goes right through the muffler and to the back section of the cavity, bypassing the sound silencer sections. Simple but it works. On the cars that are mainly run with the PSE Off, you will notice the soot build up on only the outer outlets as the result of the other outlets being shut off. There is also a mod to have the valves open all the time. Though it sounds great, having the option not to draw attention to yourself all the time, is a must have in my opinion :P

The aim of the recover charge is to declassify the internals and introduce charge slowly to the battery in fluctuations. What’s I’ve found though is if the battery was left on the shelf with no charge for too long, it may have gone past the point of no return. Sometimes it may be necessary to replace the battery acid with a fresh solution or add additives to kick start the battery back into life before the recovery charge.

It depends on your car. Some of the more modern cars have dedicated charging / jump start points in the engine bay which is what needs to be used for charging the battery too. On the less sophisticated cars, you can just connect directly to the battery terminals with the battery in place. I strongly suggest charging at the lower AMP range if you charge the battery when in the car to avoid damaging any of the cars electronics. Also do not do this with the engine running. The engine needs to be off.

Sorry to hear that! I had to have all the nuts, bolts and fixings replaced on mine because they had all perished very heavily. Being a Porsche, I’d think the valves would be expensive new. Although eBay might be your best bet if you want to keep the repair costs down.

MHO I’ve also just experienced the same thing . I took my 997 GTS for a big service including plugs and the OPC said the boots are rotten and you need a new 4K exhaust , which went down well . Fortunately I found a good place who will remove and fit, plus change the plugs too. You live and learn

Ouch! I feel your pain Jim. The best thing is to make sure to replace the fixings with better quality ones than the genuine parts which appear to be made from Papier-mâché. Mine was a by product of needing a new water pump! We live and learn...some times! I’ve been looking at GTS’s 😆

I’ve been to a Porsche dealership before and even though I was only there to look around, I was offered a drink and got a very warm welcome. It made me feel very important as a customer and that was nice. 😁

Absolutely! And that 535d would’ve had a £45k-£50k price tag. Nice car by the way. My cousin had one of those. Remarkably quick but very refined too. I guess it’s also the fact that the western world has fallen out of love with diesel cars.

And ridiculous insurance premium. 535 g series the best!

Sad to think what is still a perfectly usable PC and would be more than powerful enough to do web browsing and word processing ends up being junk! Nice work in finding them and hope you manage to repurpose them. 👍

Thanks for your kind words! :-) I've been karting for some time but had never ventured into actual cars on the track and the Caterham was a great transition car because of how similarly to a Kart it behaves on the track. The late braking capability plus some extra bravery definitely caught some of the Lotus drivers out! I just didn't have the grunt to push past them on the straights or challenge them anywhere apart from the corners. I definitely recommend doing it though; 100% one of those "as much fun as you can have with your pants on" kind of experiences. Hope you decide to have a go at some point soon.

The car is an S and it also has PASM so it sits lower than a non-S car or one without PASM. It is all standard.

mhoseinofi wow I have a 997.1 C4s with PSE and PASM . I believe this would be the same setup as yours... but for some reason your car looks lower ... Ps- I like the OEM REAR LIGHTS over the aftermarket LEDs. Would you ever consider putting a rear diffuser or do you think this would ruin the look? Thankyou for your hospitality- you have a beautiful car !

@@dr.brianjudedelimaphd743 Thank you for your kind words :) I run 18mm spacers on the rear and 305/30 tyres; perhaps the slightly wider stance, creates the lower illusion. I really like the car as is. I did consider the LED aftermarket lights, but when I saw them in flesh, I really preferred the stock lights. These cars are starting to join the retro 911s so I'm becoming less interested in modifying it. Never considered a diffuser tbh; I think that would be the moment I start looking at GT3s ;-)
